Paula Nickolds, 44, became the first female managing director of John Lewis in January. It is one of two divisions within the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose, led by managing director Rob Collins, 46. Tougher trading conditions meant staff at the firm’s 48 John Lewis shops and 354 Waitrose branches have had their annual bonus cut to 6% of salary — the lowest level since 1954. Despite this, the partnership’s revenue grew 2.8% to £10bn under its chairman, Sir Charlie Mayfield, 50.
