Joseph Heler has been producing cheese for more than 50 years and today makes 40 different varieties at its Cheshire site. As well as producing traditional varieties such as Wensleydale and Cheshire, the firm also makes cheese for the British and continental ingredient market – these are used in ready meals, pizzas, sandwiches and sauces. Under Mike Heler, son of the company’s founder, international sales grew 60% a year from £2m in 2009 to £5.2m in 2011.
