Jumar has designed software that updates old green-screen systems to run on web-based servers. It can update thousands of screens in a few hours, and because it is automatic, any errors are immediately reported. The alternative, manual editing of the computer code, would take a day to update a single screen. Jumar was founded in 2000 by David Tomkins and Wendy Merricks (above), who were joined shortly after by technical director Doug Michael (above right). Sales to customers such as ING, the Inland Revenue and the Sol Melia hotel chain, have risen 169% a year from an annualised £444,000 in 2001 to £3.2m in 2003.
