Husband and wife team Mark and Yvonne Tweddle, 42 and 46, run this Shropshire firm as joint managing directors. When Mark was an agriculture student, he turned his attention to fresh produce after working on a lettuce farm as a holiday job, founding Jupiter in 2003. It grows, buys and distributes fruit, and now has overseas sales and procurement offices from Argentina to India. Its vineyards operate as joint ventures with local farmers, and the firm is packing its fruit ready for sale at source to reduce the amount of product handling. Since planting its first in India in 2014, it has acquired 500 acres of vineyards in countries such as Chile and Greece. Last year profits hit £4m, helped by its 2018 acquisition of South African fruit exporter Bonaire. In 2019, it bought Dutch fresh produce company Cool Fresh International. Customers include several major supermarket chains, including Tesco and Lidl.
