Thanks to this company’s website, “hungry surfers” can order a takeaway without even the hassle of picking up a phone. Originating in Denmark, JUST EAT was launched in Britain in 2006 and is now based here. It has raised £40m of venture capital in two rounds, most recently in March from investors that include Greylock Partners and Redpoint Ventures. Led by chief executive Klaus Nyengaard, JUST EAT grew sales 80% a year from £3.1m in 2007 to £18.1m in 2010, when it made a loss. The company is still expanding and has made five acquisitions this year, in Italy, Switzerland, India, Brazil and Canada.
