Kilfrost’s de-icing fluids are used by airlines and airports across the world. It develops and manufactures its products in Newcastle and has partnerships with companies in the US, Belgium and Japan. Customers include British Airways and Air New Zealand, which use its environmentally-friendly range of products. Established in 1932, and now owned by the third generation of the Halbert family, chief executive Gary Lydiate has seen international sales grow 35% a year, from £22.1m in 2009 to £40.2m in 2011.
