Greg Keers, David Warwick, David Bucknall and Richard Hooke founded KW International (KWI) in 1993 to sell consultancy services to the deregulated power industry. They later developed software to help power firms manage their exposure to risk when trading electricity. KWI raised £9m of capital in October 2001 to fund overseas expansion. Sales have grown 108% a year from £973,000 in 1998 to £8.8m in 2001, when the company had 79 staff in its offices in London, Basle, Stockholm, Sydney, Houston and Boise, Idaho.
