With 662 outlets across Britain and 700 on the Continent under its Kwik-Fit and Speedy brands, this company helps millions of motorists get back on the road. The Edinburgh company is best known for its tyre, brake and exhaust fitting service, but it also has a large presence in the corporate market. In 2005, the private-equity investor PAI Partners backed chief executive Ian Fraser in a £800m secondary buyout from CVC. This month Kwik-Fit agreed to sell Pit Stop, which has 400 outlets in Germany, to the private-equity investor BluO. Sales reached £942m in 2008.
