Edinburgh-based Kwik-Fit has grown into one of Europe’s biggest fast-turnround fitter of tyres, brakes and exhausts, helping some 7.5m motorists a year back on the road. It has branched out into vehicle insurance, and expanded into continental Europe with its Speedy and Pit-Stop brands. It is making inroads into the corporate vehicle market with its Kwik-Fit Fleet subsidiary. In 2005, the private-equity investor PAI Partners backed chief executive Ian Fraser in a £800m secondary buyout from CVC, which had bought it from Ford. Sales grew to £858m in 2007.
