Hertfordshire-based Lamex Food Group was founded in 1966. Its core business is the import and export of meat and poultry, but it also sells fruit, juices, purées and honey. China is its largest export market but Lamex has offices in 12 other countries, including Russia, Brazil and Thailand. Chairman Phillip Wallace led a £30m buyout in 2006. Sales reached £444.2m in the year to March 2009.
