L+M Food Group was founded in 1966 to import canned food. It was acquired in a £30m buyout in 2006 and renamed Lamex Food Group. Now the Hertfordshire company controls a global food-trading group dealing in pork, poultry, fruit, vegetables, purees and honey. It has 15 offices in 12 countries on four continents. Managing director and chairman Phillip Wallace’s diversification strategy led to annualised sales of £194.9m in 2007.
