For safe electrical connections between wires, the insulating plastic surrounding the conductive metal must be removed cleanly and accurately. Chief executive Paul Taylor, 47, spotted a gap in the market for the stripping of delicate wires, such as those used in hi-tech medical devices, and developed a machine capable of stripping even the finest wires using lasers — a task usually done by hand under a microscope. The Pontypridd firm launched in 2011, and in 2017, saw international sales of its machines increase almost fivefold, hitting £5m.
