This Birmingham company, which makes light commercial vehicles, is so confident about the future of car making in Britain that it has just invested £40m to update its 85-acre site where it makes some 13,000 vans, minibuses and chassis cabs each year. The company was formed in a buyout of Leyland DAF Vans and is now owned by investors led by 3i. It had sales of £141.1m in 2003, when operating profits slipped from £8m to a loss of £12m.
