This London firm says it has lent more than £1.3bn since 2013, when it was started by Christian Faes, 39, and Ian Thomas, 35. It has since secured a 10% share of the short-term mortgage market, thanks to its alternative lending and investing platform, which helps borrowers secure finance faster and gives investors a better return than traditional saving methods. LendInvest has raised £39m to date, including £17m last year from Atomico, the venture capital fund run by Skype co-founder Niklas Zennström. The UK mortgage market was worth £1.3 trillion in 2015, and LendInvest plans to expand into new niches, including buy-to-let mortgages.
