Established in 1995 by Heather Frankham, a former primary and secondary school teacher who became a fitness instructor, this Bristol-based company originally provided training to those seeking to work in the leisure and fitness industries. More recently, it has branched out into the hospitality and retail sectors as well as training staff to work with children or the elderly. The company’s large clients include Fitness First and the Hilton hotel group, providing training under the government’s apprenticeship scheme, as well as running courses paid for by trainees themselves. Under chief executive David Foster, sales increased by 78% a year, from £4.2m in 2008 to £23.6m in 2011, when the company trained 20,000 people. In August, Sovereign Capital acquired a stake in the company, providing investment for further growth.
