Birmingham-based Lil-Lets Group launched its range of tampons in 1954. Fifty years later, the firm is a global supplier, with 60% of total sales now generated overseas. Its feminine hygiene products are sold by supermarkets and chemists across the UK and Ireland, but its biggest market is southern Africa. The company is backed by Electra Private Equity, which bought a 45% stake in 2006 in an £80m deal. Under chairman Martin Frost, international sales grew 26% a year from £14.6m in 2008 to £23.2m in 2010.
