This Birmingham company started out in 1959 making paper packaging. Now LINPAC produces McDonald’s burger boxes, cardboard pizza boxes and dashboards for cars. After the death of its founder Evan Cornish last year, it has been widely reported that the company is in discussions with a private-equity buyer. The firm, now run by Cornish’s son, Michael, reported sales of £1,149m in 2001, when it had 11,340 staff.
