The MAMMA MIA! phenomenon seems unstoppable. Tom Hanks’s production company, Playtone, has just signed a deal with Littlestar Services to bring the global stage smash to the big screen. Growth at Littlestar, owned by MAMMA MIA! producer Judy Craymer and the ABBA singers and songwriters Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, has been fuelled by the musical’s appeal to audiences all over the world. Eleven productions are now on the go – the Russians got their first chance to sing along to Money, Money, Money in October. A five-year stint on Broadway and seven years in London have boosted Littlestars’ sales 66% a year from £5.3m in 2002 to £24.3m in 2005, when the company made a healthy profit.
