Frustrated that he couldn’t find his ideal bed, Charlie Marshall, 41, set up his own website selling beds and mattresses in 2008. He started with a range of just 12 but since then the company has expanded to stock all types of furniture and in October opened a Loaf Shack — an 8,000 sq ft showroom in London’s Battersea. Loaf plans to open further stores in the next two years, helped by an investment from Accessorize and Monsoon founder Peter Simon, who took a stake of an undisclosed size in the company last year. Sales reached £22.1m this year.
