In 2005, chief executive Alex Cresswell-Turner secured £3.5m of funding for the furniture retailer he founded in 1998, giving Pi Capital a 45% stake. The London company now has 14 stores in addition to its Tottenham Court Road flagship, and plans to open six a year for the next three years. Boosted by the success of its new store at the Bluewater shopping centre, sales of Lombok’s trademark Vietnamese, Indonesian, Chinese and South African furniture and accessories have grown 65% a year, from £1.7m in 2002 to £7.7m in 2005.
