As Irish expats in London, Kevin Leahy and Michael O’Meara met when playing hurling for opposing teams. This social bond led to the pair setting up their civil-engineering company in 2006, drawing on O’Meara’s construction background. Lorclon specialises in groundworks, such as drainage and foundation reinforcement, with clients including Balfour Beatty, Costain and VolkerStevin. Large jobs at the Olympics Village and the Docklands railways extension now account for 65% of turnover, which grew 56% a year, from £1.8m in 2008 to £7m in 2011.
