Founded in 2004 by James Cornell and Andrew Bartle, this Leeds group buys customer debts from a range of clients and then manages the recovery of the loans by offering tailored repayment plans to the debtors. To help it price the debt purchases, the company uses models developed in-house. Lowell claims to manage 170 portfolios at any time, ranging in value from £10,000 to £5m. TDR Capital backed a tertiary buyout in June 2011 for an undisclosed sum. Profits increased by 47% a year, from £13.4m in 2007 to £42.9m in 2010.
