In 1989, William Mowatt sold the waste disposal equipment business he created back in 1967. Later, he teamed up with accountant Geoffrey Gaffney and formed a second company called Lucas Flett, a “one-stop-shop” for industrial customers needing waste disposal equipment and services. In 1995, the pair bought Mowatt’s first company back. Sales at the Buckinghamshire-based company have grown from £3.5m in 1994 to £21m in 1997. Mowatt attributes most of the growth to the key acquisition of his former company and to its one-stop-shop concept.
