After struggling to find mid-priced bathrooms with a high-end appearance while working as a property developer, Wayne Spriggs, 44, decided to take matters into his own hands. He designed a range of composite stone baths and sinks, using a £10,000 bank loan and £20,000 of his savings to pay the deposit for production. The Middlesbrough firm’s baths, sinks, showers and countertops can now be found in luxury homes and hotels from Claridge’s in Mayfair to the Sugar Beach Residences in St Lucia. Sales grew to £8m in the year to September; its profit margin of 40% is one of the highest on the league table.
