The Luxfer Group claims to be one of the world’s largest manufacturers of high-pressure aluminium cylinders, and its gas containers are used in everything from oxygen breathing tanks to industrial gas storage. The company also processes metals such as zirconium and magnesium and produces alloys used in the defence, aerospace and automotive industries. Formed in a £200m management buyout of Alcan Aluminium in 1996, and now led by chief executive Brian Purves, the company operates in 26 countries and posted sales of £257.7m in 2008.
