Profit Track 100

The drinks wholesaler LWC sells alcoholic and soft drinks to supermarket chains like Asda and Somerfield, to 4,000 bars and restaurants, and a chain of 35 pubs owned by sister company Dorbiere. The business supplies labels such as Carlsberg and Britvic as well as its own brands, which include VHF flavoured vodka and Ring o’Bells lager. LWC makes higher margins on its own brands, which account for 20% of sales. Good relationships with suppliers and customers have kept costs down and orders up, leading to a 68% annual increase in profits from £687,000 in 2000 to £3.2m in 2003.
