Chairman Subaskaran Allirajah, 45, founded Lycamobile in 2006; since then it has expanded rapidly to provide international and national calls for more than 16m customers in 21 countries. The group says it has 5,800 staff and generated revenues in 2017 of £1.3bn — not including sales from Allirajah’s other operations. The auditor of its main UK-based holding company stopped working for Lycamobile in April 2017, saying it was unable to express an opinion on the accounts because it could not obtain appropriate audit evidence. Lycamobile attributed this to the complicated and international nature of the group’s activities.
