Founded as a chauffeur service in Cambridge in 1909, Marshall has developed into a group of companies engaged in a range of activities from car sales to aerospace engineering. Other divisions are involved in organising private jet chartering, as well as the design and manufacture of mobile field hospitals and incident response units. The company is based at Cambridge airport, which it also owns and operates. In January, Robert Marshall succeeded his father Sir Michael Marshall as group chief executive and became the fourth generation to lead the group. The Marshall family and its trusts still own 71% of the business. Sales grew to £1billion in 2011.
