This London-headquartered company was founded in 2003 by university friends Nick Poturicich and Charles Safapour with financial backing from recruitment entrepreneur Kevin Coyle. Providing temporary and permanent nursing staff to the NHS and private hospitals, its clients are mainly in the southeast of England, but the company is now spreading westwards. Sales rose 73% a year, from £11m in 2007 to £56.8m in 2010, and Mayday is making its fourth consecutive appearance on the league table, although NHS cutbacks are likely to make it hard to sustain this rate of growth.
