Possibly the most successful Formula One team, McLaren has won 16 drivers’ and constructors’ championships since 1984 when Techniques d’Avant Garde funded a turbocharged grand prix engine that gave Niki Lauda the world championship and McLaren the constructors’ championship. The Woking company also produces road supercars, such as the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren with Daimler. It has an electronics division and has set up a unit to find applications for its technology. Chairman and chief executive Ron Dennis oversaw sales of £206.6m in 2006.
