Established in 1953, Mackays is now one of the leading privately-owned retailers in Britain. The Scottish company, founded by brothers Len and Iain McGeogh, remains under family control. The company rebranded in 2006 as M&Co following the acquisition of Midlands-based Laroque, and now boasts 300 stores across Britain selling ladieswear, children’s and teenagers’ clothing and menswear as well as a range of homeware items. Sales rose to £167.8m in 2007.
