Mediaburst began in 2000 as a fax and e-mail broadcasting company but it has since moved into developing software for text applications. Its core product, Desktop Text, works from Outlook and Lotus Notes and allows users to send and receive text messages and calendar reminders. Another product, Fax Me Now, allows users to receive faxes in their e-mail inboxes. Customers include O2, the London Evening Standard and Reuters, along with 22 universities. Sales have grown 231% a year from an annualised £136,000 in 2001 to an annualised £1.5m in 2003.
