With business travel increasing in both cost and environmental impact, Meeting Zone provides a carbon-neutral alternative in the form of telephone and web-conferencing services. Customers such as the National Grid can log on to Meeting Zone’s conference portal to manage their meetings online. The Oxfordshire company was founded by chief executive Tim Duffy and operations director Steve Gandy in 2001. It is backed by business angels and Springboard (now known as Nova Capital Management), which invested £2.1m in 2002. Sales have grown 60% a year from £1.4m in 2005 to £5.9m in 2008. The company is now busy expanding internationally—it opened offices in Boston and Toronto this year. Last year it opened an office in Berlin, its first on the Continent.
