Able to trace its roots back to 1889 and the invention of the insulation tester, or “Megger”, today this business designs and makes portable test equipment used to ensure the safe and reliable operation of electricity networks. Led by chief executive Jim Fairbairn, 50, Megger operates internationally, with eight manufacturing sites and 25 sales offices. Last year, the group acquired Baker Instruments, a manufacturer of electronic test equipment, for an undisclosed sum.
