This company was founded by David and Anita Cole when they led a management buyout from Mind’s Eye Merchandising Group with £100,000 and the backing of NatWest. MEM provides supermarkets such as Tesco and Sainsbury’s with shelf stackers and floor staff to promote customers’ products. Most of its sales come from restacking shelves with books, DVDs, cosmetics and toiletries. Increasing work with Tesco, together with expansion into department stores run by the likes of John Lewis and Debenhams, have boosted sales 62% a year from £2m in 2002 to £8.7m in 2005. N.B. In March 2006, David and Anita Cole were disqualified as directors for seven and four years respectively. The company is in administration as of October 2007.
