This Edinburgh-headquartered housebuilder was founded in 1934. By 2021 the business plans to be building 4,000 homes a year, up from the 2,775 it built last year throughout the UK, which helped sales increase by 19%, to £675.2m, with profits up 27% to £130.7m. Last August, chief executive Chris Endsor, 57, led a buyout backed by the private equity firm Bridgepoint, which acquired a majority stake from GSO Capital Partners in a deal worth £655m.
