Founded in 1957 by the late Giuseppe Modiano, this firm is now led by his two sons Laurence, 53, and Michael, 50. Modiano buys untreated wool from countries such as New Zealand, and processes it at its factory in the Czech Republic. It then sells the semi-treated output, known as wool top, to spinners, who use it to produce yarn used in everything from upholstery to hosiery.
