Rhys Howells began his working life on a farm and bought a truck simply to move goods between farms. It was the beginning of a successful haulage business. Rhys’s son James founded Monex in 1995 to transport automotive components, particularly to and from Germany. The Welsh company’s sales have grown 93% a year from £620,000 in 1997 to £4.4m in 2000, when it had 21 staff.
