In 1998 Alister Piggott realised that Morgan Howard Group, the technology recruitment agency he founded in 1992, was getting more and more business from the Continent. He decided to follow the trend and make the company international. ‘You have to search the globe these days,’ says Piggott. ‘People just want to get the right person as chief executive and it doesn’t matter if they come from America, Asia or Europe.’ Global reach came with the launch of a Paris office in 1998, closely followed by branches in America, Germany, Holland, Hong Kong, Italy, Scandinavia and Spain. The company also operates multi-lingual research centres in America, Asia Pacific and London. Such reach and customer service have pushed up sales 103% a year, rising from £555,000 in 1996 to £4.7m in 1999.
