Morris Homes specialises in building flats and houses on brownfield land, with an average sale price last year of £180,000. It operates mainly in northwest England and the Midlands. In March 2004, managing director Mike Gaskell led its third management buyout in a deal worth £175m. Helped by the strong housing market, profits at Morris Homes rose 51% a year from £7.8m in 2001 to £26.7m in 2004.
