David Shelton and Garry Warren founded Motorpoint at the beginning of the car-supermarket boom in 1998. The Derby company reckons it is one of Britain’s largest such car dealers, selling new and nearly new cars and vans from sites in Derby, Burnley, Glasgow, Newport and its latest outlet in Peterborough. A third of customers buy their cars over the phone and the company offers finance and insurance for purchases. Sales last year reached £248.6m; the firm has a target of 47,000 vehicle sales this year.
