The international engineering consultancy Mott MacDonald provides services for a range of industries, including transport, power, building, health and education. It was formed through the merger in 1989 of Mott Hay & Anderson with Sir Murdoch MacDonald & Partners. The company has expanded geographically and at the end of 2003 bought HLSP, an international health consultancy. Recently announced projects include assisting Tajikistan with irrigation. Mott MacDonald is 50% owned by its employees and has benefited from a surge in demand for its education and transport services. Its sales rose to £469m in 2003.
