The Mott MacDonald Group is an engineering consultancy that specialises in professional services for the transport, power, sewerage and construction industries. It was formed through the merger in 1989 of Mott Haye Anderson with a firm owned by Sir Murdoch MacDonald. Mott MacDonald has expanded geographically, acquiring the American water engineering group Killam for $39.5m in January 2001 as part of its American arm, Hatch Mott MacDonald. The company benefited from a surge in demand for its education and training services in 2002 and reported sales of £401m.
