Mott MacDonald’s engineering and technical knowledge was instrumental in building NHS Nightingale hospitals in London, Cardiff, Manchester and Glasgow. Led by executive chair Mike Haigh, 60, the employee-owned consultancy called on its experience of rebuilding roads and bridges in Cumbria after storms in 2015. Its expertise extends from information, asset and carbon management to renewable energy projects, such as Japan’s first commercial-scale offshore wind farm. It also developed the masterplans for the ongoing $13bn expansion of JFK airport in New York and Jakarta’s first metro system, which opened last year.
