Mott MacDonald is a management, engineering and development consultancy that began life more than 100 years ago when the founders worked on projects such as the Aswan dam in Egypt. The group now covers a wide range of sectors, including transport, education, health and construction. Its recent projects include design work for the £16 billion London Crossrail project and Qatar’s zero-carbon World Cup stadium, which was designed and built in just six months. Led by chairman Keith Howells and headquartered in Croydon, the business is owned by its 14,000 employees who work in 140 countries. Sales were £1.1billion in 2011.
