Hobbyists, collectors and paparazzi trade in their photography equipment on MPB’s website. Its software matches buyers with sellers, and automates pricing based on camera specifications and product demand. Matt Barker, 32, started the Brighton firm in his bedroom in 2006 with a graduate loan. Boosted by Instagram, which has made good quality photos and retro cameras fashionable, sales hit £7.4m this year. Later this month it will open an office in New York, and this autumn German and French websites will launch to drive international growth.
