This family-owned company was set up by John Murphy in 1945 to clear bomb sites in London after the Blitz.Today it undertakes civil and mechanical engineering projects in Britain and overseas. Its recent work has included the redevelopment of Kings Cross railway station and the £200m construction of the Crossrail Thames tunnel. The company appointed Steve Hollingshead, 59, as its new chief executive in April.
