Started in 1987 in Johannesburg’s Portuguese community, today Nando’s is a familiar sight on the high street with 213 restaurants across Britain. Serving a variety of chicken dishes with seasonings including its spicy peri-peri sauce, the chain operates in more than 33 countries and last year entered the crisp market with its line of peri-peri chips. The branches in Camberley, Wrexham and Eastleigh are the latest additions to the chain, and, under managing director David Niven, sales reached £186.6m in 2008.
