Fast Track 100

With 214 licensed MOT centres across Britain, this company has grown through relentless acquisition. It bought 41 service centres from Lex Group in 2001; a further 96 in 2002; 54 centres from Kwik-Fit in 2003; and 50 AA centres in 2004. This has boosted sales 81% a year, from an annualised £9.6m in 2001 to £56.7m in 2004. The company says customers are attracted by the offer of same-day repair of vehicles, which is possible because its suppliers are contracted to deliver parts within an hour of order. Nationwide Autocentres was founded by entrepreneur Tom Dunn in 2001.
