Nectar, based in Romford, makes and operates specialist bagging machines to unload bulk commodities such as grain, fertilisers, rice and sugar. It handles 4m tons a year from around 350 ships in countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Somalia and Cuba. It also operates a coal terminal in Beira, Mozambique, and last year expanded into South America. Under managing director Chris Boughton, 49, development of equipment and new investment in its fleet helped profits hit £4.8m in 2012.
